Camp Wild is a place where children can cultivate a lifelong appreciation for the natural world, develop valuable life skills, and experience the joy of growing and harvesting their own food. Learning the medicinal properties of herbs and creating DIY products and incredible art pieces is priceless. It's a space where the young and young-at-heart can connect with the earth, fostering a love for gardening that will hopefully be passed down through the generations.
Terri Venter, whose formative years were defined by outdoor adventures and crafting galore, grew up in the wild and untamed plains of Africa. Her love for gardening was initially inspired by her grandparents who owned a Protea farm in the Majuba Mountains of South Africa. She classically homeschooled her three children. Her goal to help bridge the gap between ancient traditional healing and modern day homesteading. She believes it is rather easy when you work with a child’s natural curiosity and enable them to make wiser decisions through their own exploration and ‘eureka’ moments. If you can’t find her wrist deep in dirt planting or harvesting, you might find her nose-deep in a Latin book, mixing delicious teas, stocking her apothecary or junking at the local vintage markets.
Nichole Smith was head wildflower, we mean gardener, at the Wildflower Collective. She is a mama to five wildly wonderful children. She believes the world should be an "Each one-teach one" kind of place, where younger greener gardeners can learn from older wiser nurturers. She likes to take the road less traveled and her most favorite flower is a weed. She is passionate about the world of plants and their ability to nourish, heal and protect the body! It is her deep desire to share the ancient knowledge of herbalism with the next generation, by deepening their roots of understanding through play and work. She is a certified Montessori Teacher, child birth educator, doula, homeschooling, tea drinking girl and yes, she belongs among the wildflowers!
